In terms of the technical infrastructure, a detailed analysis of the business requirements will affect the composition of building block to be delivered as part of the WP8.

Open questions that will be clarified through the project relate to whether the infrastructure should be based on a federated architecture or on centralized architecture components and whether any existing Pan European infrastructure may meet the business requirements.

Still, the building blocks will most likely fall into a pre specified group of abstract categories. For instance, the federated infrastructure will result in a solution that utilize national gateway exchange points and thus gives the nations the freedom to choose their preferred infrastructure and perhaps more importantly, other nations will not be dependent upon the other member’s infrastructure and/or infrastructure exchange points.
