A new Italian participant for PEPPOL

As a result of the positive development of PEPPOL and the important role of Italy in the project, the Authority for the Supervision of Public Contracts for works, services and supplies (AVCP) decided to take part in the initiative. AVCP is going to participate in PEPPOL, focusing on the Virtual Company Dossier component, leveraging on standardisation developments for some of its own ongoing projects – mainly those aimed at enabling the exchange of certificates for technical and financial qualification between the economic operators and the contracting authorities, exclusively based on the use of electronic means.

PEPPOL Starter Kit Launched to Spur Adoption and Ease Implementation

The first edition of a Starter Kit has been released to ease implementation of PEPPOL solutions. The Starter Kit includes information about the operational, technical and legal aspects of the PEPPOL project. In particular, it focuses on the piloting process, starting from initial engagement to implementation and conformance to the PEPPOL specifications. It will be updated regularly as needed.

FRANCE connects to PEPPOL

At the event “France connects to PEPPOL” in Paris Bercy on December 12th, 2011, the French government affirmed their commitment to PEPPOL and demonstrated the progress achieved. Ten key French players announced the use of PEPPOL as an innovative solution for cross-border eProcurement. The conference brought together hundreds of stakeholders and PEPPOL participants, including Jean François Junger from the Directorate General for the Information Society of the European Commission, Jacques Mr Barailler, Director of Purchasing Services of the State, and Agnés Arcier, President of Adetef.

Adetef, the French agency of the Ministries for the Economy, Budget and Sustainable Development, invites the international press and French political representatives to take part in the event “France connects to PEPPOL” on December 12th, 2011 to discuss the role of PEPPOL for French suppliers. The press meeting will take place from 14:30 to 17:30 at the Centre Pierre Mendès France.

e-Freight uses PEPPOL Transport Infrastructure for Information Exchange

The EU funded e-Freight project has selected, after investigating alternatives, the Pan-European Public Procurement Online (PEPPOL) transport infrastructure for electronic information exchange. e-Freight’s initial pilot is between DSV, a global supplier of transport and logistics solutions, and STENA Line, one of the world's largest ferry operators. The initial implementation relates to transport of goods between Gothenburg, Sweden and Germany.

There was considerable interest in the PEPPOL project at the EXPP eInvoicing Summit in Barcelona on the 26th and 27th of September. This year’s event became international with government representatives from Brazil and Mexico describing e-Invoice strategies in their countries. The European Commission's aims with electronic invoicing, ePrior and the Norwegian approach was amongst the topics presented.

All suppliers selling to the Norwegian state must from next summer send their invoices electronically. One-man firms (like the local carpenter) rarely have their own eProcurement systems and need easy to use web tools where they can produce their invoices. Difi is now inviting suppliers offering web-based invoicing solutions to adapt their solutions to the Norwegian PEPPOL-enabled format for eInvoicing.
